the study developments |
The basis of this research project is to examine selected low cost low carbon housing developments, from the strategic brief through to occupation, together with views from a wider group of stakeholders, and to set out evidence-based recommendations on ways to increase the uptake of low cost, low carbon housing.
A key part of the project is engagement and collaboration with the study development teams – from funders through to contractors. Details of the developments will be included soon - sign up to the mailing list to ensure you’re one of the first to hear. The research project will be delivered through five stages. The stages will comprise a mix of desktop review, qualitative and quantitative social research, site observations of construction practice, building fabric testing, energy and environmental monitoring of the homes in-use, and mapping of different communication methods to the targeted audience.

Selected developers who are constructing Buildings for 2050 housing schemes are participating in this research project. The developers have different funding models and a range of drivers for the schemes they are developing. They are also adopting different approaches to low carbon design. These factors, combined with the variation in tenure, will provide a good range of data for the research.
